How to run inbox repair tool!

Inbox repair tool is a free repair program which you can used to repair PST file which has been corrupted. This utility has been provided by Microsoft Outlook. If you are getting any problem in accessing PST file or Outlook, the simple way to solve the problem is using inbox repair tool scanpst.exe. Tool automatically include whenever you install Outlook.

Find scanpst.exe. But first make sure that you have close outlook application and all email or other PST objects.




Double click on it. It will launch inbox repair tool. Now locate corrupted PST file which you want to repair.




Now you will see name of the PST file in Window. Click the “Start” button to start scanning your PSt file. You need not to worry about data as it only scan file not change anything.




Repair process goes to the 8 steps. Depending on the size of the corrupted PST file it will take time.




After completion of scan process you will see a window which show that scan found and it show that whether error found or not after scan. If any error not found then just Press “OK”.




If there is any error then window display to make repair. It is recommended to make backup of scan file before repair. So for that check the box and make backup and click “Browse” button to select a location for your backup. Save backup on your desktop and delete when repair process complete successfully. Now click on “Repair” button to repair corrupt PST file.





The repair process will proceed and after completion it shows a confirmation message that the repair is complete.




Now you can delete backup file after repair process complete.




But this is not guarantee that tool will repair PST file, sometimes it fails to repair PST file because either PST file corruption is due to exceed size of 2GB or .pst file is severely corrupted. At this time you will get error message with unaffected PST file.
